WHEN WE HAD NOTHING
We were one
We endured struggle and maintain
We faced
We suffered
Rejoicing in penury and poverty
But we saw the illumination
We grew forging ahead
We maintained our path
We were condemned
Clogs never seize
Supplications were made
Our opium elevated
During these no helping hand
During these we were not loved
During these we are disregarded
But still we saw the illumination
After all, the rain stopped
Afterwards the sun began to shield its brightness.
Our dreams were unlocking
Our joy was now
We saw it
We deserve it
It is our right
But still we were naïve
Naïve of the locked
Naïve of the about
The locked began to unlock
We were shocked
We were touched
Our seat shifted
We became flummoxed
Perplexities began to set in
The about began to reveal
The condemners became façade
They were closer
They were nearer
They wanted a part
They wanted a portion
Now that the illumination reveals
After these, we saw many
We were loved
After these, we were regarded
The closest
The trusted, betrayed us.
Forcing their way in with zest
Desiring a seat
Wanting a place
Fighting with vigor
They never fought when we wonder
They came not when black
That is life for you
Surely, some revelations are locked
But we might say and ask
Ha! Hmm! tell me if it is right.
